Limcen office is providing LPG study and planning with the main objective on safety and sustainability. Such systems must only be designed by skilled engineers, because very strict specifications are governing the storing and the installation process of LPG.
Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) is a mixture of butane and propane, produced from refining crude oil. It is a clean and convenient energy source because of the very high combustion efficiency.
The main benefit of this type of fuel is that is maintained in liquid form at very low pressure (~250 times less volume than in gas state). This assists in transportation and storing in appropriately designed containers. Storage containers are filled up to 85% of their capacity, since room is necessary for the vaporization of the LPG.
Even though LPG is transported and stored in a liquid state, it burns is a gas state. Pressure in the gas state of LPG (after natural or induced vaporization), varies according to temperature and is relatively high. A regulator is used to stabilize and reduce pressure to the requirements of the burner of the appliance, before the channeling of the gas to the appliance.
Simple or complex piping is being used to channel LPG (gas state) to the various appliances. Piping should be designed and installed only by qualified professionals because of the range of materials available and the relevant specifications.
1. Cleaner burning
LPG is a cleaner burning fuel with very high combustion efficiency. LPG is less harmful to the environment and your health since it produces less harmful emissions than many other common fossil fuels. It generates very little CO2 and is low in flaming residues – all of which contribute to pollution. In the event of a spill, LPG will quickly evaporate with no risk of ground or water contamination.
2. More versatile
LPG can be used indoors and outdoors, so there’s no need for another source of energy. LPG is ideal for domestic and commercial uses since it provides instant, easily controlled heat.
3. More convenient
LPG can be stored underground, well out of sight. It also doesn’t cause any noise, mess or smells around your property and LPG boilers are quite small, generally requiring less maintenance than heating oil boilers.
4. More economical
Customers don’t have to buy the tank, and installation costs are low, particularly when compared to heating oil. Plus, it is very easy to switch suppliers. The fact that LPG burns more cleanly, supports ensure a more efficient, low maintenance boiler.
5. More flexible
LPG is reliable, portable and flexible so it can be used for a wide range of applications. It provides instantly applicable heat and is easily controllable. LPG can also be combined with renewable energy sources.
LPG is widely used in residences, in industries, in the farming and in the tourist sectors. More specifically:
• Residence: LPG can be used for many applications including cooking, heating and water heating.
• Industry: LPG can be utilized for heating or cooling, the operation of machinery, the food chain production, laundries, as fuel for forklift trucks, electric power generation and other applications
• Farming sector: LPG is optimal for many applications in the farming sector because of its clean flaming and cheap price. When used in animal husbandry and planting, its use offers many benefits. This technology can be used in pig and poultry farms and greenhouses, where a constant temperature is required throughout the year.
• Tourist sector: Businesses like hotels, bars, restaurants and pools with appliances such as boilers, ovens, hotplates, water heaters, air conditioning units etc. they choose to utilize LPG since it offers clean energy and versatility, combined with a lowering of consumption costs by more than 20%. One more benefit of LPG is that it does not leave flaming residues and thus lengthens the life of the appliances and reduces maintenance costs.
